The much-anticipated sequel to the excellent DOOM (2016) DOOM Eternal has been delayed and the Nintendo Switch port has been delayed even further, with details coming at a later date.

On the official DOOM twitter account as of October 8th, 2019, ID Software made a statement that reads “Throughout the development of DOOM Eternal. Our goal has been to deliver a game that exceeds your greatest expectations across the board. To make sure we’re delivering the best experience – for DOOM Eternal to live up to our standards of speed and polish- we’ve made the decision to extend our launch date by a few months to March 20, 2020

ID Software has been pretty quiet in the past few months on the development front for DOOM Eternal; and this delay is welcomed by most fans. After all, we want to get a game that is just as fantastic as the previous title. It seems we will just have to wait a few more months.

In the lead up to the release of DOOM Eternal, I have gone back to play DOOM (2016) to get a feel for how its sequel will play out. I have to say that when I first played DOOM I wasn’t blown away by it, but since I have picked it up again; I have been having an blast.

The adrenaline-pumping soundtrack, matched with the strategic enemy placement makes for a fun and exhilarating shooter that I did not want to put down. During my off days where I can’t seem to play anything I know I can just turn on DOOM and just have some fun. I have even picked up DOOM VFR and have been slowly making my through its short 5-hour campaign.  Though it has been making me slightly sick at times, I chalk that up to me getting my VR legs.

In the meantime, as you wait for DOOM Eternals’ release you can occupy that time by replaying DOOM (2016) DOOM Classic, DOOM 2 or even DOOM 3. DOOM Eternal will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC on March 20, 2020, and Nintendo Switch at a later date.
