For those who can’t wait for Sony’s MediEvil remake; have no fear as you can download a demo and play it from now until Sunday, October 6th. Sony announced during its State of Play livestream that the MediEvil Short-Lived Demo would be available on the PlayStation Store that same day.
It seemed Sony had originally planned to have a big surprise reveal for the demo. Sadly that was ruined after the Japanese store version of it had already leaked, before Sony had a chance to reveal it themselves. The page was then taken down shortly after.
Those unaware, MedEvil was a hack-and-slash series originally released on the original PlayStation back in 1998. It is now getting a remake from the ground up, with a graphical overhaul, major tweaks to gameplay, and an overall modern look for the game. The demo will be around 11GB in size, and will feature Dan’s Crypt and the graveyard area.
Players will be able to test out the games’s reworked combat system, which includes weapons like bows, arrows, swords and axes. If all other weapons fails you, do not fear; Sir Daniel can still pull out one of his hands to use as a weapon in the demo as well.
As an added bonus, Those playing the demo should keep an eye out for Dan’s helmet, a piece of armor that first appeared in the Japanese version of the original PS One title. Apparently if you find it in the demo, it will net you an extra challenge when equipped in the full game. Things look good for MedEvil so far, now we just hope the full remake lives up to the hype.
The full version of the MediEvil Remake will release on the PS4 on October 25th. Just in time for Halloween.
