Overwatch fans should be happy to know that it seems the recent rumors were true. Overwatch, will be officially coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 15th. This is only slightly different to the rumored October 18th date that was speculated last month. An Amazon listing for a Nintendo Switch case, along with the Overwatch logo, popped up on forums and Twitter. Many began to speculate that Overwatch was going to be on the switch soon.

For those unfamiliar with Overwatch, Overwatch is Blizzard Entertainment’s wildly popular online multiplayer hero shooter. which originally released in 2016 on the PS4, Xbox one, and PC. The rumors of a Switch release were indeed correct, although the news had less impact, it was a welcome surprise nonetheless for Overwatch fans.

The news was announced on the Nintendo Direct Wednesday, where Nintendo and Blizzard premiered a new Overwatch Switch trailer. Nintendo also announced the Switch’s motion controls will provide different ways to play, it will feature some additional features such as gyro-motion controls. It can also be used in other ways such as tilting the Switch in handheld mode to move Junkrat’s RIP-tire from side to side or can be used to aim a sniper rifle to increase accuracy.

Overwatch: Legendary Edition is available to pre-order on the Nintendo eShop right now. The pre-order includes five Legendary, Epic and Origin Hero skins. The game will also include a three-month membership to Nintendo Switch Online. Those who purchase Overwatch before December 31st will receive a Golden Loot Box that has one guaranteed Legendary item.

We don’t have the full details on how the performance differs to other platforms. However, that should come when we get some gameplay footage or it releases on October. Overwatch: Legendary Edition will release on the Nintendo switch on October 15th for $40
