There is a hierarchy for all games and game series, with The Sims being held aloft by many as one of the greatest. Within that there are the games in the series which go as thus: The Sims 3The Sims 2The Sims, and at the very bottom is The Sims 4. The reason for this being the order is how with every release the games would get better and add more features. Upon the release of 4, there was a dramatic drop in the quantity of features while only a very small increase in the quality of life.

We have had these discussions ourselves with Lisa and I possibly being the most vocal of the two on The Sims discussion. Lisa, appropriately, summates The Sims 4 alongside the likes of Hitler, Fozzie Bear, and marmite for all the right reasons. I, on the other hand, think the small updates Maxis have done to the game over the years has resulted in something more acceptable than what was first made available. I do however believe that game is still the worst possible iteration of The Sims next to the mobile game with EA’s usual predatory nonsense.

With that being said, Maxis announced in their Livestream on Tuesday that the 4th game will be getting something major as of now. The update, to coincide with the 5th Anniversary, is all based around stairs and culturally Muslim-inspired content. In particular, the Muslim-based content is mostly seen as the hijab and kufi for characters to wear. Though for architectural content, there are a few more pieces such as doors, windows, and archways that do indeed arch.

However, the one point that has many players rejoicing at the step forward is on stairs, which are apparently a step-up I guess. From now on you don’t have to faff about with those foundations from the third game, you can place your stairs with little platforms on specific levels. This also means, when you inevitably remake your preferred house from a favored TV show (as I did), you’ll be able to do it successfully. No, you will not just have it once and done, you can turn it and turn it U-shapes, L-shapes, or any other mess you can think of.
