Volition, developers of the popular Saints row series is apparently “deep in development” on a new installment in the franchise. This is according to Publisher THQ Nordic this Wednesday.

Without giving a release date, title, or any concrete info, the team revealed that it will be a “full entry” in the series. This means that it will be a main entry similar to the games before Agents of mayhem which may or may not continue the story it left off.

The most recent main entry is 2013’s Saints Row 4, then came the spin off, Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell, in 2015. Volition then developed the most recent entry in the series, (as it technically still counts as a Saints Row game) Agents of Mayhem in 2017. The title received less than adequate reviews and was lacking in sales.

Until Volition reveals more details on the new game, we’ll just have to hope it pleases fans with the dynamics similar to other Saints row games such as Saints row 1 and 2.

Aside from that, THQ Nordic also announced many more games they’re working on. This includes Dead island 2, a title known for having a bumpy development cycle; from news of switching developers, to no news at all.  Now we have an official confirmation that Dambuster Studios, (developers of Homefront: The Revolution) will now be heading the development of the title. This obviously does not assure the release anytime soon but here’s hoping.

THQ has also hinted at a new TimeSplitters game in development. This is not surprising, as THQ Nordic acquired the rights to TimeSplitters in 2018. With series co-creator Steve Ellis joining THQ Nordic “to help plot the future course for this franchise.” it seems Timesplitters is back in development. With all these new potential titles under its belt, both Volition and THQ Nordic seem to mean business. Now let’s hope it works out for them this time.
