If you have played any video game during the PS2 era, you’ve probably looked at Tony Hawk’s weird and dead stare from the box. The grim look upon his face from American Wasteland aside, skating games almost died in the PS3/360 era. They are almost definitely dead in the PS4/Xbox One era, with Pro Skater 5 being nothing more than Activision defecating the bed trying to squeeze the last drip out of Tony’s now dead legacy. However, many gamers still hold out hope that EA will stop chasing trends with Apex Legends and Battle Royales, giving money to charity, and just make a sequel to Skate 3 already.

There is something that’s immediately evident when you look the Kickstarter for crea-ture Studios’ game Session. While Skate 3 was aimed at people performing self-circumcision via several drops from the top of a skyscraper, landing on an old woman, and getting up like the American healthcare system wasn’t a mess; Session is not. While it might seem a little anti-climatic with the build, however, Session borrows heavily from Skate by being everything it was without the X-ray vision as you bang a man’s plums off a railing. Instead, you drop like you are trying to protect a Kennedy from being shot.

We finally have a release date for Session following its showcase at the  Xbox conference during 2018’s E3 expo. It is coming to Steam early access on September 17th. Session is also coming to Xbox Game Preview sometime this October.

So it seems this year while heading into winter, I’ll be yelling “Get down Mr. President!” while riding a plank of wood so thin I’d snap it if I landed too hard. After playing a small piece of the free demo from the Kickstarter (listed on the Kickstarter page), I can’t wait to see where it has gotten to and where it will go in the future.
