If you have been paying attention to some of what I’ve been writing over the months, you may have noticed that I have this penchant for putting a car round a bend at high speeds. Between the F1 2019 and Grid 2 reviews, you may have noticed that I like driving games, and I’m excited for the release of Codemasters’ next racer in the Grid series, simply called, Grid. Seemingly doing a Prey-style naming protocol, however, at least having a game or two games between the reboot and the original.

Well, it seems, with only months to go until the release of Grid, (that is the second game to be simply called Grid,) you can currently only purchase two games in the series. You can now only purchase 2014’s Grid: Autosport, which is releasing on the Nintendo Switch in 2019, and 2019’s Grid. As of earlier this week, you can no longer make a digital purchase of Racedriver: Grid‘s sequel Grid 2, much like its predecessor you will have to own the game already or own a disc (mostly found in second-hand retailers). Making it the second game in two weeks to be redacted from digital storefronts.

Late last week, Dari wrote about the removal of Ducktales: Remastered from Steam, and earlier this year Sega’s Alpha Protocol also walked off into the sunset. These are not the only games to do so in the past year or so. Once it was announced that Telltale was to close down, months later many of their games would be leaving digital storefronts too. Some of the Lego titles, such as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, have also left Steam. While some such as Alpha Protocol and Ducktales left either with no warning or only a few days warning, Grid 2 did not. Being featured as a free game through the Humble Bundle store in March.
