Rockstar is making a lot of money off its landmark title, Grand Theft Auto 5. There were worries that Red Dead Redemption 2 would get turned into a microtransaction mess, but it looks like DLC is going to be a story-based adventure much like Undead Nightmare.
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare was a full-length story in a zombie horror theme; that recreated the western title as a spooky apocalyptic mess. As corpses begin to rise from the dead to become flesh-eating zombies, you worked to find the plague’s cause and a cure for your family. The campaign was very emotional, and worked very well despite its’ drastic change from the main game. The DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2 is now rumored to be quite similar, but with aliens instead of zombies.
Undead Nightmare’s story lasted about six hours and included new cutscenes, voice acting, and music. If the DLC for RDR 2 gets this treatment, as is rumored, it’ll likely be a total hit. The DLC was meant to be released this January, but clearly, this didn’t happen. Rockstar has been working on the DLC for awhile now, with rumors that they are also working on Grand Theft Auto 6. That’s a lot, but if it’s true, Rockstar won’t be losing its grasp on the gaming market anytime soon.
The rumor also included news of a full blown remake to Red Dead Redemption. It’s like the exact same style and presentation of Red Dead Redemption; with the original story and updated voice work. The protagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur Morgan, is also said to be recreated in the story to fit better.
Editor’s Note – After this article was written and submitted, it came out that the rumors of both the full-blown remake and DLC were false. If you would like to read more about this. Please do so here.
