If you’ve been following this site for a while and read several of my reviews, you may have noticed I like a good Codemasters racing sim. Between Grid 2 and more recently F1 2019, I think Codemasters have been perfecting the modern racing game the same way FromSoftware perfected Fifty Shades of Grey simulators. However, back in May Codemasters announced they were in development for yet another installment in the Grid series, but this time taking it back to basics. This Grid reboot would be set to release September 13th. However, it has been pushed back almost an entire month.

Codemasters made this announcement via their blog post yesterday, following a short statement on Twitter. The blog post notes that the release would move to the October 11th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC players, while those that have bought the “Ultimate Edition” will receive the game three days early. Oddly enough, they made a separate statement for other platforms: “GRID also remains a launch title for the upcoming Google Stadia platform later this year.”

The blog post then goes on to state, “With Grid receiving multiple nominations and awards at this year’s E3 event in Los Angeles, including being named ‘Best Racing Game’ by Game Informer and DualShockers, the change has been made to give added exposure to a game we’re hugely excited about.”

The post continues, “With a little more than three months until launch, our Grid and Codemasters channels will be revealing more information and gameplay and big announcements, with more major news coming In the next couple of days.” Seemingly, they postponed the release, not for developmental struggles, but for further promotion of their title.

This beautiful reboot of Grid, a sub-series in the TOCA series, will be the twelfth release in the whole series and will be $80/£65/€75 for the Ultimate Edition. The Standard Edition is also available at $60/£45/€55 over on Steam.
