A few months ago, I wrote about the pre-early access build of Satisfactory, days before it’s proper release into Early Access. It may not surprise you that I found this beautiful little construction-management game to be full of reasons to pick it up. I still believe that’s the case. Over the last few weeks I’ve also gotten that construction/crafting game bug that everyone had back in 2012/13. So after about a month or two away, I have been jumping back in when I could find the time.

Then just a few days ago I heard (in a distant whisper) that the next update will be adding everything I need out of a Factorio— I mean, a Satisfactory-style game. Nuclear powered trains. When we think of nuclear-powered vehicles, we think of Fallout and their take on the nuclear car, which is based on the very real Ford design of the 1950’s. However, it seems in this sense of nuclear-powered vehicles, we are indeed talking about the very realistic idea of them. These bad boys will not require a bit of Uranium 236 to be haphazardly thrown in the back like it’s a box for recycling. They will, however, work the same way your house gets electricity.

Jokes and history/science lessons aside, the update brings a lot of details. Firstly the trains will unlock in the sixth tier of the research tree. Of course, this doesn’t mean you will have to wait until you unlock the ability to dig up U235, turn it into U236, then put that into a reactor to play with your trains. You can use these trains on coal power, but that’s boring. Anyone who wants, “POWER!!!!” should hook them up once they have the nuclear power in tier 7. To achieve nuclear fission, you’re better off crafting yourself a handy hazmat suit. That is unless you want a third leg between your genitals and anus.

These are not the only additions coming in this update. Other than the quality of life fixes, bug fixes, tweaks from the UI, and more; there are also things added such as Mark.3 miners, Mark.5 conveyers, as well as iodine infused filters. I don’t fully understand what the last one means, but it sounds so cool next to the words “Nuclear Fuel Rod.” If this has not gotten you interested in Satisfactory, then I don’t know what will.
