NBA 2K20 is showing off a shiny new trailer, its cover athletes for the Standard and Legend Editions, and a huge addition to the game’s roster.
The cover athlete for the Standard Edition is Anthony Davis. It makes sense, given Davis’ high profile move to the Los Angeles Lakers this off-season. Teaming up with LeBron, Davis may make his first legitimate run for a title this year, and nevertheless, he’s always a consistent all-star. “Being picked as the face of NBA 2K20 means the world to me,” said Davis in a 2K news release. The Legend Edition will feature recently retired Miami Heat star, Dwayne Wade. A Digital Deluxe Edition will also be released, coming with some in-game currency. The Legend Edition does too, as well as some other in-game goodies.
NBA 2K20 will be available in a standard edition for $59.99, a Digital Deluxe Edition for $79.99, and in a Legend Edition for $99.99. With a release date of September 6th, this will be the first time that all three editions release on the same day. In the past, the Legend Edition got you a few days to play before the Standard Edition released. It sometimes meant online players were already miles ahead of you if they grind hard enough in those early days, so this evens things out for all.
The trailer for the upcoming game shows NBA stars Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James, as well as A’ja Wilson of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces. This makes 2K20 the first NBA 2K game to feature WNBA players. NBA Live began offering WNBA games and players in 2017. Renee Montgomery of the Atlanta Dream is also on record as saying she’s in the game. There’s no word on if full WNBA league play will be available or not. Either way, the NBA 2K fanbase is huge, and no matter what features do or don’t make it in the final product this September, it will fly off the shelves.
