It is hard to complain about something when it is free or in a deal, but by Jove have I been giving it a good try over the last few months. As the comments below the announcements tend to reiterate, Twitch users are displeased, between yelling about Fortnite and complaining about the “Baby Games” offered. There’s also a discrepancy between what console players get vs what PC users get. PC owners got good stuff for World of Tanks, while console players got one tank, once.
Stupid arguments aside, the games and their quality are not what I’ve been knocking. It was the variety which was/is still lacking from these monthly offers. Last month saw two indie platformers, a rhythm RPG, and a co-op dodge ball game. Out of those four, I could only name one.
This month I could name all four, mostly as a result of either playing them, lining up interviews, or their reputation. However, this creates an inverse effect on the problem at hand, because there’s nothing strange or even a little gem twinkling in the corner waiting for everyone to hear about it. Although, there are lots of other pieces of loot I have to point out first.
July’s Twitch Prime features something from Rockstar, two things in fact. This month you will be able to collect loot for both Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption 2’s online mode. Both are available for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The former gives you a grand total of $1.25 million of in-game currency and up to a 15% GTA$ bonus on all Shark Cash Card purchases. I’ll refrain from being too vocal on my opinion of Rockstar’s Online games this time. However, it is a tear in the ocean of the money required to progress in the game.
Nonetheless, those that are playing Red Dead Online will be able to get RDO$300, a “Superior ammo bundle,” and up to 15% bonus Gold Bars on all purchases of Gold Bars. To redeem both of these offers, you will have to link your Twitch Prime account to your Rockstar social club (accounts must be older than 48 hours). There is no word on when this offer ends, so be sure to pick up your Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Online loot soon.
Next is the monthly World of Tanks loot, which I often say I have no idea what it is. Much like before, there is no difference. With your World of Tanks loot you will receive the Harold “Nelson” Scott tank commander with three perks, 14-day rental of two premium British tanks, a day of World of Tanks premium, 6 new emblems, and consumables such as repair kits, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and more. This offer is valid from July 1st through to July 29th.
Continuing on with what I do not know much about, the fourth and possibly final En Masse Action RPG pack is available until July 28th. This pack includes exclusives skins, costume pieces, stat boosts, and more for players of TERA and Closers. Of course, to collect your loot for TERA and Closers, you will need to link your Prime account to your En Masse account.
Another big promo that is ending soon in this Twitch Prime saga, is the promotion with Path of Exile. Path of Exile has its’ Arcane Cosmetic Bundle available on Twitch Prime until July 24th. This bundle includes a Steam-powered portal effect, arcane halo, arcane visage, and azure weapon effect. In order to claim the Arcane Cosmetic bundle, and you will have to link you Path of Exile account to Twitch Prime.
If you are playing Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 following E3, you may want to pick up the Twitch Prime loot available right now. It’s another new triple-A set of loot, but we do know that this will not be the only piece. If you own The Division 2 on PC, PS4, or Xbox One, you will be able to pick up the apparel bundle. However, this is only one of four, and this one is going to end on October 25th. Once again, to redeem the loot, you will have to link Twitch Prime to your Uplay account.
Rather than repeating myself on several accounts I’ll link back to last month’s loot and tell you what to look for in these cases. The League of Legends Monthly Rift Rewards is still available until August 28th. The StarCraft II Vorazun: Nerazim bundle is still available, but only until July 9th, so be quick on that one. Warface‘s NeoN Punk bundle is only available until July 10th. The Prince of Darkness Hades bundle for Smite is still available until July 29th. Nintendo Switch Online is available until September the 24th. Finally, the Overwatch All-Access pass deal is available until September 29th.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 loot this month for PC, PS4, and Xbox One is also available until July 18th. This month’s bundle includes one weapon camo, one sticker, one gesture, 100 nebulium plasma, and five reserve cases. To collect this loot, you will have to connect your Call of Duty account to your Twitch Prime account.
If you are a RuneScape player, you will once again be able to pick up some loot for your account. This time offering two Umbral chests which are claimed to “guarantee super-rare” content for your account. The Umbral chests are available to collect from Twitch Prime until July 16th, and you will have to link your accounts.
Though if you prefer space over the middle ages as a setting, you may want to pick up the Eve Online: Sunesis Omega bundle. With this bundle, you will be able to pick up an exclusive Sunesis purple skin and ship (worth $5), 150,000 skill points, and an Eve Online premium subscription. This offer is perfect for those that want to try Eve Online without paying initially for the membership and is available until July 9th.
The Dauntless: Desperado Bundle is also available until July 9th. It includes the Desperado armor set, a purple dye, the Desperado title, and some supplies. It seems this will not require you to link any accounts, just insert a code.
Then there is the questionable Dungeon Hunter Champions loot, which we don’t know if it will still be available by the time this is published. However, if you are playing Dungeon Hunter Champions and you are quick to get to this point in the article, you will be able to pick up the Brutal Bounty Hunter outfit. If this is no longer available, Twitch may have swapped it out for something else.
Of course, we now get to the meat and bones of the Twitch Prime loot, the games. As I have already said, there is a wider branch of games, though if you’re looking specifically for the more obscure side of indie gaming, this is not the month for you. This month, Twitch has opted for a collection of more recent games and indie sweethearts, as if they’ve been listening to me compare them to Epic. That’s a scary thought.
However, I will happily tell you to run to this month’s collection of The Escapists, For the King, Cultist Simulator, and Yooka-Laylee. As much as I will tell you to avoid The Escapists on consoles, this is the perfect time to pick up a game that’s both relaxing and exhilarating, as you try to escape from prison. If you want to know more about For the King, Alexx wrote a review for the Nintendo Switch port. My knowledge of Yooka-Laylee is only based off of its reputation, and Cultist Simulator is from setting up an interview with Weather Factory.
For the first time in a long while, I can’t wait to complete this article to get some time to play some of these games.
