It’s summer in the northern hemisphere, which means three things: children are loud, annoying, and outside, people are having barbecues, and the summer sales are here. While we’ve already had the Epic Games Store “Mega Sale” last month, this month we’re seeing the Steam Summer sale. The event is almost marked out in every gamer’s calendar, picking up a number of games on their wishlist for dirt cheap prices.
☀ The Steam Summer Sale is on now through July 9th, offering big savings on thousands of titles! ☀
This year, enter the Steam Grand Prix! Join a team, complete challenges and earn points you can exchange for prizes!https://t.co/4TuWeBVo1Ohttps://t.co/znkmMBsMQs pic.twitter.com/ZWTohFfnUO

However, this year there is a bit of a twist to proceedings; as the event includes a Grand Prix you can join. You do so by joining a team, wherein you can contribute points to the team’s goal by completing tasks in games. Completing these tasks in select games will give you the ability to boost your team a little further in the race. You can also increase your boost bar by the money you have spent, to my understanding before and during the summer sale.
What do you get for being the top team? Possibly one of the games in your Steam wishlist. I say possibly because the drivers of each team that get their free game are selected at random. This is done daily, and the end of the sale a larger number of drivers will get their free game if they are in one of the top three teams. So get off to the races and get in the Grand Prix for your chance to get a free game from your wishlist.
However, if you are like the rest of us and can’t be patient about it, you can pick up fan favorites for dirt cheap right now. Of course, some games such as Devil May Cry 5 are not dirt cheap, though it is still has 50% off. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is also 50% off, as is Tyranny. As for platformers, the newly released My Friend Pedro is 15% off, A Hat In Time is 50% off, Hollow Knight is 40% off, and Katana Zero is 25% off.
If you are looking for a fresher take on Dungeon Keeper, Dungeons 3 is 75% off, as is War for the Overworld. For a management kick, you’ll find Prison Architect and Cities: Skylines for 75% off, and Two Point Hospital is 50% off right now. For JRPG fans Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy XV are 50% off; for Western RPG fans, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year Edition is 70% off, and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is 97% off.
No matter what type of gamer you are, there is something for you during the Steam Summer sale, and don’t forget to join the Steam Grand Prix. The Steam sale began on the 25th of June, and will end on the 9th of July.
