Casino DLC coming to GTA V Online

It has been several years since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, the best Grand Theft Auto from a mechanical standpoint (and from a writing one too). However, you may have noticed a building that’s completely inaccessible, not only to children and the disabled but to players of the game. The building in question is by the stands over at the Vinewood racetrack, down on Vinewood Park Drive just off of the Los Santos freeway. The casino, which some had thought early on would be part of a single-player DLC, is the subject of a new press release. It turns out the DLC and Casino parts were correct, however, this casino isn’t coming to single-player.

The Diamond Casino & Resort will open soon in Grand Theft Auto Online, or as I’d personally like to call it: 2K’s piggy bank. Earlier this month the sign placed outside the casino read, “coming soon,” which has since been removed and replaced with a construction motif to suggest there is work being done on the building. This was followed up by some more supplies appearing out front the following week. Then yesterday, following some speculation, Rockstar made a comment on the topic.

“With something for everyone, The Diamond Casino & Resort will feature lavish amenities, exclusive shopping, first-class entertainment[,] and state-of-the-art gaming facilities.” Rockstar stated in their press release. They continued with, “Whether you’re having a night on the town with friends or a seeking a brief solitary escape, The Diamond Casino & Resort is open to one and all.” They continued, saying, “Come experience the tasteful luxury that the Diamond has to offer including best-in-class concierge, valet parking, the exhilaration of spinning the Lucky Wheel for a chance at life-changing prizes, a finely curated selection of spirits at the bars and lounges, a range of sophisticated table games[,] and much more.”

If you are still playing Grand Theft Auto Online then you are possibly about to get a whole new thing to spend your money on. However, if you have played the single-player you will not get a casino to spend your millions of stolen dollars. This in itself is strange, as during the campaign you can find Trevor being thrown from the casino. Yes, while early online content was set before the events of the GTA V; each subsequent DLC to the online version came with an update to the timeline. Either the Diamond Casino & Resort is a renovation from what is in the main game, or it is just another DLC to get money out of “whales.”
