THQ is a name that, if you are older than the age of 12, you’ll remember for making a lot of games. Their catalog of games is big; with seven games in their first year of publishing, which led to their licensed games from Film and TV Properties. These properties include WWE, Rugrats, Scooby Doo, Spongebob, Jimmy Neutron, The Incredibles, and more. The point is, when you played games on the PlayStation 2, you would have run into something THQ released. One I often remember in my nightmares is the Destroy All Humans! series. Based on a pulp 1950s B-movie and oozing Americana, it was a sci-fi game about being the aliens in an alien invasion; a different and interesting idea, at the time.

However, if you are under the age of 12, your only knowledge of anything I’ve just said is THQ Nordic, formally Nordic Games. Over the last few days, they said they’d reveal three upcoming titles in their repertoire. First, Darksiders Genesis which is set to release on the Google Stadia next year, followed by SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, and finally, on Friday Destroy All Humans! was announced. It’s another remake, but a remake of a strange cult-classic that was just a bit crap.

In the statement on Destroy All Humans! THQ Nordic said, “Destroy All Humans! is in development for PC, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One.” They continued, “It’s a complete remake of the 2005 cult-classic, using the mighty Unreal Engine 4 to give new and old fans the best-looking invasion of Earth ever.” However, some may assume this to be nothing more than a revamp of the graphics, though according to the statement, this is far from it.

In the statement, THQ Nordic said they will be keeping, “The unique 50s alien invasion story and legendary dialogues full of quirky humor.” Going further to say they will be changing/updating several things: Crypto to be more agile, improved aerial combat, psychic skills can now be used in conjunction with the gun, and new psychokinesis abilities. However, that’s not all, a so-called “lost mission” of Area 42 is restored and will be coming to the remake.

The Destroy All Humans! remake is under development by THQ Nordic’s internal studio, Black Forest Games, and is scheduled for release in 2020. This with coincide with the 15th anniversary of Destroy All Humans! This news came with the release of a strange, new cinematic trailer featuring Rammstein’s “Ich Will,” or in English, “I Want.”
