I am one of those gamers who is clinging onto all of my physical media, so needless to say I am a big fan of Limited Run Games and all the support they give us collectors.
The first announcement of the night was that of Night in the Woods, a long-requested game, developed by Infinite Fall, which received critical acclaim. Night in the Woods is a 2D side-scrolling adventure game in the style of old Double Fine and Lucas Arts games and will release in Q4 of this year.
After the exciting announcement of Night in the Woods, Limited Run came out with some bittersweet news about the last PlayStation Vita games line up which included 14 games:
- Deadbolt – Q3
- Guacamelee! – June 11th
- Super Mutant Alien Assault – July 5th
- Pix the Cat – June 21st
- Revenant Dogma – 2019
- Mutant Blobs Attack!!! – June 14th
- Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken
- Rocketbirds 2: Evolution -2019
- Atari Flashback Classics – July 2019
- Super Meat Boy – 2019
- Damascus Gear Operation Osaka – 2019
- Damascus Gear Operation Tokyo – 2019
- Metal Slug 3 – July 12th
- Papers Please – 2020
For us in the PlayStation Vita community, this is a big deal as Sony has been slowly cutting off life support for the handheld, which has halted production in Japan.
Now the Vita may be dying but Limited Run is bringing many forgotten games back from the dead:
- Transistor – July 5th – Nintendo Switch & PS4
- Turok – Q3 2019 – Nintendo Switch
- Turok 2: Seeds of Evil – Q3 2019 – Nintendo Switch
- Blaster Master Zero – Q4 2019 – Nintendo Switch
- Red Faction – July 12th – PS4
- Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid – Now – PS4 & Switch
- Hover – July 26th – PS4
Most of the time I don’t see myself playing Indie games because they do not have a physical release, and I just end up forgetting to play them, but thanks to Limited Run I now get whole sweet of Indie games including:
- Bad North – Q3 2019 – Nintendo Switch
- Blazing Chrome – Q4 2019 – Nintendo Switch & PS4
- Freedom Planet – June 21st – Nintendo Switch & PS4
- Dark Devotion – Q4 2019 – Nintendo Switch & PS4
- Rogue Legacy – July 19th – Nintendo Switch & PS4
Limited Run has also shown off two great surprises. The first being the there will be 3DS support for the Atooi Collection which includes five games: Mutant Muds, its sequel Mutant Muds Super Challange, Bomb Monkey, Zeo Drifter, and Chicken Wiggle, all coming soon with no release date at the moment.
Also announced were:
- Corpse Killer 25th Anniversary Edition – July 30th – PS4
- Double Switch 25th Anniversary Edition – Pre-order July 19th through August 2nd – Nintendo Switch
- real MYST Masterpiece Edition – Q3 2019 – Nintendo Switch
- Mercenary Kings: Reloaded Edition – June 28th – PS4
All these games are great and make my wallet cry, but nothing made me more sure that my bank account will be emptied as the next 2 announcements. First, Shenmue 3 collectors edition will be released on November 19th for PC and PS4. Only 1000 copies for PC and 4000 copies for PS4 will be available.
Second, (and the final announcement), was over 10 Star Wars games including the entire Jedi Knight series, X wing, Rebel Assault 1 and 2, Tie Fighter, Episode I Racer, and Bounty Hunter. They will be released on June 28th for PS4.
