I am used to watching long form, well dressed, and pretty professional E3 press conferences. I knew Devolver Digital was a bit outlandish but this year’s “Devlover Digital Direct” was an absolute roller coaster filled with swearing, gore, a terminator like ending, and well – games of course!

The press conference first showed off a new twist on the Battle Royal genre with Fall Guys. Fall Guys is being developed by Media Tonic and the trailer features many Baymax looking characters, slowly meeting their untimely deaths, while running through an insane obstacle course. These courses involve skateboards, falling balls, and slides just to take the crown over your 99 competitors. Fall Guys is coming to PC and PS4 in early 2020.

The next big announcement was the Devolver Bootleg. Devolver has, for some crazy reason, created their own sort of pirated rip off titles of 8 of Devolver Digital’s most popular games including:

  • Enter the Gund Dungeon
  • Hotline Milwaukee
  • Ape Out Jr.
  • Shootyboots
  • Super Absolver Mini: Turbo Fighting Championship
  • Catsylvania
  • PikuBiku Ball Stars
  • and Luftrousers

All these games are available on Steam right now!

Carrion was the game that I was most excited about, and I honestly can’t wait for this “Reverse Horror Game.” In Carrion, you take control of a creature of unknown origin and the goal is to stalk, hunt, and massacre those who have imprisoned you. Being Developed by Phobia Game Studio, Carrion looks like a fun and interesting new take on the horror and 2D action genres. Carrion is due out on PC and consoles in 2020.

A new Enter the Gungeon was also shown off but in the most typical fashion, this light gun game is actually an arcade cabinet where you and one friend fight the army of the Gundead while unlocking new weapons and abilities. The Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead is due to release in 2020 and is available for pre-order for around $5,000.

A release date for the expansion pack to The Messenger, known as Picnic Panic, was also announced. It was first revealed during Kinda Funny Games’ showcase last year and will be available for free starting July 11th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The final announcement was My Friend Pedro, a shoot ’em up game being developed by DeadToast Entertainment, that uses split aiming and slow-motion for acrobatic combat. You play a gunman with the ability to shoot enemies with a variety of flips, spins, and kicks that allow you to jump off walls and dodge bullets to get the best rank possible in missions. My Friend Pedro will be released on PC and Switch on June 20th.
