I must say, I have been a little too busy to keep up with all of the free games and content on several gaming storefronts. I could argue that this was as a result of Steam’s confusing stance of “spring cleaning” last week, as they offered a free weekend for several games. However, this was also down to a lack of care for the title I had written about Epic Game‘s free game giveaway. I won’t lie, I wasn’t terribly excited about Stories Untold, so much so, that I neglected to pick it up myself. Truth be told, I wasn’t excited for Rime last week, which I only found out about the evening prior to the next giveaway, either.

However, I am back to tell you about the next game on the free giveaway list for the Epic Games Store. This time it is Uppercut Games’ City of Brass. Which will only be free until June the 6th, yes, we’ve gone from fortnightly giveaways to weekly. One could, and indeed would assume that this is to drum up “hype” for E3 and get more people playing games they otherwise wouldn’t. Something Twitch Prime subscribers saw last June with over 20 games giveaway with their subscription.

With that being said, what is City of Brass about? Since I’m sure you are wondering. Well, at the very least it seems that it is somewhere between a puzzle game in the sense of “You are here (point A), find out how to get over there (point B).” This also seems to be broken up by some combat, akin to that of the VR area fighters like Gorn, Blades and Sorcery, and their other counterparts. However, you are doing all of this in an “Arabian Nights-themed metropolis,” according to the game’s description. In short, you are Raiders of the Lost Ark-era Indiana Jones down to the whip, Arabian backdrop, and– Well, you don’t have a gun.

I know when it was released back in May of last year, I was intrigued by City of Brass. However, I never had gotten around to it, for some reason. Though if you want to know what some of the developers of Bioshock did after that series, City of Brass‘ description would like to remind you who is working on it. Almost to an alarming degree.

The second game to be free for a short period of time is over on GOG. They are offering another game from a developer of a previously popular title, Obduction, is currently free. Obduction is coming from the developers of the 1993 game, Myst. Very much the game you’d want if you have just finished Epic’s previous giveaway with Rime. If you’d like to pick up Obduction, you have to be fast, as the game is only free on GOG until June 1st at 1 PM UTC.
