PlayStation’s new video series State of Play released its second installment and it may have been short but boy was it ever sweet. Clocking in at around 10 minutes, Sony wasted no time with jumping straight into the announcements.

State of Play opened with the Monster Hunter World expansion Iceborne. Iceborne brings a new “master rank,” new gear, monsters and Palico abilities all in a new setting for the “New World”. Iceborne will also add classic monsters from previous installments in the series and is looking to add hundreds of hours of content to an already huge game. Monster Hunter World Iceborne will release on September 9th, 2019.

There were two more obscure games announced today and they were Riverbond a top-down 4 person co-op hack and slash dungeon crawler and Away the Survival Series. Away is a third-person action game where you are put in the shoes of a sugar glider and have to survive natural disasters like fire tornados and rain storms to find sanctuary. Developer Breaking Walls described it as stepping “inside a wildlife documentary and experience nature from an entirely new perspective.”

For a few quick announcements PlayStation showed off a trailer for Predator Hunting Grounds; an asynchronous multiplayer game in the vein of Friday the 13th or Dead By Daylight. Not much was shown beside a quick teaser trailer and a vague 2020 release date. PlayStation classic Medievil was also given a  gameplay trailer and a release date of October 25th, 2019.

Rounding out the announcements was a big one… Final Fantasy VII Remake! In the new trailer we got a glimpse of the English voice acting and new gameplay style, the gameplay looks more akin to Kingdom Hearts; and that definitely gets me even more pumped to play what is arguably one of the greatest RPGs of all time. More information will be revealed in June, most likely during Square Enix’s E3 press conference.

The second State of Play was a rousing success and set the stage for a more exciting year for PlayStation fans.
