One of the best games of the last ten years has been Thomas Was Alone, by Mike Bithell. Bithell then moved on to create a game called Volume, a top-down stealth game in the spirit of the original Metal Gear games on the MSX2. Moving forward he then made two text-based adventures in Subsurface Circular and Quarantine Circular. Yesterday Mike announced he is working with Lionsgate Games and Good Shepherd Entertainment to produce John Wick Hex, a turn-based tactical role-playing game based on the John Wick lore.
So, erm, I'm kinda writing and directing the #JohnWick video game? #JohnWickHex A year in, and yes, I'm still pretty weirded out by that myself. Here's a trailer… https://t.co/XBGGHdeCte

This news comes ahead of the world release of John Wick: Chapter 3 or John Wick: Parabellum, which is set to release on the 17th of May. This, as one would assume, is the third movie in the trilogy though it hasn’t been confirmed whether this will be the last movie or if the franchise will continue on. We also have no word if or how Hex will connect to the franchise though it does seem that the levels of the game are linked back to the locations of fights in the John Wick movies. Bithell, in a few tweets sent out after the announcement, gave very little information on the game; Including a release date, many platforms, and several other questions one would have ahead of the release.
However, there was some information given in the trailer and in these tweets. John Wick Hex will launch on to the Epic Games Store, possibly even release first on the Epic Games Store as Bithell said: “We’re starting on PC/Mac with the Epic Store and going from there.” This could mean Epic/Tencent have bought the first release rights to John Wick Hex and will release later on Steam and possibly other storefronts. Nonetheless, in the same tweet, Bithell asks what platform people want to see Hex on and to send those to Good Shepherd, the game’s publisher.
Either way, as a fan of Bithell’s and of the John Wick films I can’t wait to see what John Wick Hex is upon release. As for the release, Bithell said: “Hyped to share the team’s work on this over the coming months, they are all superstars, but for today, my thanks go outwards, to the folks at @LionsgateGames for making this happen, and the various filmmakers for joining us in bringing the world they created to this new space.”
