From the publishers of Jalopy comes Road to Guangdong. The game is an exciting new road trip adventure. Join Sunny and Guu Ma on the journey of a lifetime, as they travel across China in their aging but beloved family car. Can they maintain their beloved car and overcome their personal history to save the family restaurant?

Driving sims are incredibly popular nowadays. One might ask why a driving sim is fun, but if you’ve played one, you get it. Road to Guangdong is a great take on the genre, also forcing players to make repairs during this long road trip through China. Drive across China in the beloved but weathered family car, ‘Sandy’, as you take the characters through an emotional journey. The tie-in of a storyline makes this game seem very cerebral. Players have to take care of your tires, fuel consumption, and engine condition as they navigate the province of Guangdong.

The game is similar to the developer’s other game, Jalopy. In that game, players build, repair, refuel and drive a dilapidated old car on a grand journey through the territories of the former Eastern Bloc. Both have a similar premise, but Jalopy was great, so let’s hope that Road to Guangdong follows. A bit more on the story: Sunny’s just inherited the family restaurant. She goes with her 68-year-old aunt to reconnect with family and gather the secret recipes, leading to a lot of issues given their old car. The game is being developed by Just Add Oil Games, a team including writer Yen Ooi. The title will come to Xbox One later this year.
