Ubisoft has confirmed that there’s something new is coming in the world of Ghost Recon, and whatever it is will be revealed later this week. An earlier rumor that began a few months back resurfaced from the “official” Skell Technology website. The teaser did not specify what game franchise it was tied to, leading to broad speculation on what it truly was. That is, until Ubisoft decided to clarify the matter leading up to the May 9th event.

Ubisoft confirmed that the announcement would be based on the Ghost Recon franchise with a message on Twitter Monday morning, but fans had already speculated and guessed as much. With the free weekend event for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands, also marketing Wildlands‘ new Operation Oracle story missions; by way of twitch streamers playing through the new operation. Given all these new Ghost Recon promotions it only made sense for the new game to be tied to the franchise.

The exact nature of the upcoming announcement remains unknown. Although, it is safe to say it will be a Ghost Recon Wildlands sequel announcement. With the reasonable success of Ghost Recon: Wildlands, a sequel was inevitable. However, it might not be a direct sequel to Wildlands, but a new installment of the series altogether. As Ubisoft is notably using just a simple Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon logo instead of a Wildlands reference in the twitter teaser.

Fans can likely expect Ubisoft to officially announce the new Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon title with a cinematic trailer on May 9th. With E3 2019 just a month away, it seems likely that we will see the full unveiling of the game; and its details will be probably be reserved the big event. Luckily, it seems fans wont have to wait long for more details.
