It has been over a year since the release of the PS4 exclusive God of War (2018), and we’ve seen some notable praise from fans and critics alike. Though upon the anniversary of the release, Sony and Santa Monica studios have released some interesting surprises. Part of this anniversary content is a free theme and an avatar to celebrate, but as the game’s director was quick to say, “That’s not all.” This was quickly followed by a tweet reiterating the idea there is no DLC in the works for God of War.
Just so no one gets the wrong idea – there is no DLC coming for the game. Sorry.

However, days later, we were given some information on another project those at Santa Monica Studios have been working on. This is not a game, but instead a documentary about the God of War franchise and 2018 release called, “God of War: Raising Kratos.” The trailer seems to show behind the scenes of development, the E3 2016 gameplay showcase, and live filming of the game with Christopher Judge (Kratos) and Sunny Suljic (Atreus). One would also assume, providing the name of the film, this will include interviews with the Game’s director Cory Barlog. Barlog was first involved with the God of War series back in 2005 as creative director and lead animator.
However, if you are looking for something to tide you over with information on God of War (2018), and Barlog’s work on the series there is an interview you may find desirable. A few months ago Barlog sat down with Danny O’Dwyer of No Clip. In this interview, the two speak about the progression and history of games leading towards God of War (2018).
Nonetheless, Raising Kratos will release onto the PlayStation YouTube channel soon. There are no further details released on the documentary, though as a fan of the 2018 release of God of War I am excited to see the behind the scenes of how it was created. If you are a God of War (2018) fan hankering for more information, there was a forum post from Kotaku’s Jason Schreier stating there is another God of War in development. Which personally wouldn’t surprise me, as I noticed between November and January Santa Monica Studio was hiring new staff; seemingly gearing up for another development cycle.
