This past weekend, I booted up LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga for some mindless fun. It turns out I may have been clued into something on a level I couldn’t understand. That’s right, a new LEGO Star Wars may be on the way, including Episodes VII, VIII, and IX.
The game has yet to be officially announced, but one direct professional source to the games and other Star Wars content says it’s happening. Skywalker Sound is the official audio production company of Star Wars, owned by Disney. The company hinted on Instagram that it is recording sounds for General Grievous and other random battle droids.
That doesn’t say much, considering Grievous is in the new content for Battlefront 2 and continues to pop up in other animated shows for the sci-fi series. A commenter, star.wars.dude., who works closely with the company, mentioned that they were working on a game. Then, commenting that all 9 episodes, Clone Wars, and the Rebels series were coming to a LEGO Star Wars game, made it seem too good to be true. Come to find out, Skywalker Sound liked the post.
The audio group has all but confirmed its working on a new LEGO Star Wars game, and great timing. The Star Wars Celebration convention happened in Chicago this past weekend, and announcements were everywhere to be found. The game didn’t come up, but it would be great timing to release a LEGO Star Wars anthology of some sort, considering Episode IX and the Mandalorian TV show are on the way.
There are a lot of LEGO games now, but let’s be honest, LEGO Star Wars did it best. The first six movies have gotten the LEGO treatment and doing the next two and other series would be a good idea. Fans love Star Wars and the LEGO games bring out the fun in everything. Plus, they’re great for collectible fanatics.
