According to the Battle.net launcher, Blizzard has announced a “Welcome Back” weekend for World of Warcraft, which will run from March 21st-24th, 2019. During this free weekend, all inactive World of Warcraft accounts will be temporarily reactivated and upgraded to the Legion expansion, providing said expansion isn’t already registered to a reactivated account. Players who do not own the most recent expansion, Battle for Azeroth, will also have a trial period of access to content present within that expansion.

Blizzard states in the announcement that players participating in the trial period of Battle for Azeroth content will have access to said content for a period of three hours during the free weekend. Players can participate in the Battle for Azeroth trial content with up to twelve characters per qualifying account. Additionally, throughout the duration of the free weekend, Blizzard is offering a 30% discount on character transfers, faction changes, and race changes.

Returning players who find themselves tempted to upgrade their accounts to Battle for Azeroth will also find that both the standalone expansion and the World of Warcraft Complete Collection pack are discounted by $20 for the duration of the free weekend. This discount brings the prices of Battle for Azeroth and the Complete Collection to $29.99 and $39.99, respectively. The Complete Collection includes thirty days of game time and a level 110 character boost, which will allow players to begin experiencing everything Battle for Azeroth has to offer immediately.

I feel I should mention that players who are unfamiliar with the process of playing a level-boosted character will be required to play through a “combat training” scenario. During which their character is locked to one of the specializations available to their class. Players cannot change their character’s specialization or choose talents until after they have completed all necessary scenarios.

Do you intend to return to Azeroth to take advantage of the free game time? Why or why not? Feel free to sound off in the comments below!
