Beneath the streets of modern London is a medieval society of rats, mice, squirrels, moles, and other small creatures called Rodentia. It is a society that worships gods, but Verm does not care, for the Yellow God of Death had stolen his tail. In Small Saga, you will lead Verm and his pack of fellow rodents against legions of animals in a quest for vengeance – that is, if the game is fully funded.

Small Saga is an RPG inspired by the likes of Golden Sun, The Secret of NIMH and Berserk. In this world, pocket knives become great swords, lighters are a tool used by skilled pyromancers, and house cats are terrifying titans. In development since January of last year, Small Saga has crafted a strange world with lots of gorgeous pixel art.

Small Saga is being developed by Jeremy Noghani. The developer, under the name Sketchy Logic, had previously made another game with funny animals called Aviary Attorney, a pastiche of the Ace Attorney series set in a Victorian London era where everyone is an animal. The game generally got average to positive reviews, which gives credibility to Noghani’s skill and ability to deliver on Small Saga.

“My previous experiences have taught me a lot about my capabilities and limitations, both as a developer and as a project manager. I have learned how to realistically estimate my workloads and how to budget my time. For Small Saga, I have given myself achievable milestones, and as a result, I am confident that I have the skills needed to see this project through to the end,” Noghani said on the game’s Kickstarter page.

Small Saga has a Kickstarter goal of $41,856 (or £33,000), which is to cover living costs during the game’s development. It is currently halfway to meeting that goal and the Kickstarter will end on July 4th. If you want to get a taste of what the game will offer before you choose to help fund the game, check out the public demo that’s up on itch.io.
